The only state that is planning any recognition of the USCT during the Civil War Sesquicentennial that I am aware of is Pennsylvania, where a grand review of the USCT is being planned for  Harrisburg PA, in November 2015. It will mark the 150th Anniversary of the parade of  United States Colored Troops units from Massachusetts and Pennsylvania in Harrisburg, PA  at the end of the Civil War in 1865.
Black soldiers were not invited to the review of the Union Army in Washington D.C. during May 22-24, 1865. So there has never been any meaningful ceremony to honor or otherwise recognize the United States Colored Troops of the American Civil War. We must rectify this historical grievance.

It is incumbent upon the descendants of these black soldiers to ensure that the USCT is recognized during the upcoming Sesquicentennial Observance of the American Civil War. If you are a USCT descendant or know somebody who is one, checkout the USCT page on this site and join the campaign to bring recognition to the black soldiers of the Jubilee.

Spread the word. Tell your friends and neighbors about the effort to honor the black soldiers of the Jubilee. Write to your Congressman/woman and let them know how important it is to finally recognize and honor the men who enforced the Emancipation Proclamation wherever they went. We are indebted to them as ancestors who secured our freedom. It is up to us to maintain their legacy.. our children and grandchildren must know that we fought for the coming of Jubilee and we have been fighting ever since. These men initiated the Civil Rights Movement. They knew that their sacrifice and the hardships endured by their wives and families would eventually result in the sense of equality and social justice we now insist upon. Join us, we need your help.
